Costa Rica with a Toddler

Well, it is official. I have officially put the down payment on the Costa Rica trip. Devyn and I will be joining a few other solo mom travelers and their kids. I am so excited to be introducing Devyn to the world. And not just going to visit all the tourist spots, which I do enjoy doing - minus the all the people part... because you know, I'm a little anti-social and have social anxiety, but an actual immersion experience. Getting to spend time with locals to understand their culture. Seeing how they do things, how they live. This is awakening something inside me to ignite a passion.

I will say the anxiety is there. But we're doing it anyway. It will be scary. It will just be me and her in a new place. I'm most anxious about getting through the airport. I'll have someone drop us off. I'm not taking a car seat, she'll have her little backpack and then a carry on and I'll take a carry on and a back pack. I'm not sure if I'll check luggage or not, I think no, just because it will be too much to wait around with her. Although it may be easier to track. Thoughts? Has anyone travelled alone with a toddler? Let me know your tips and tricks.

I've been reading lots of blogs and joined groups, so I have lots of reading to do over the next few months. I have made the mistake to tell Devyn we're going on vacation so she keeps asking. I'm glad she's excited though.
